The cradle of the SEMITES is the "FERTILE CRESCENT" which includes Syrians, Babylonians, Arabs, Phoenicians, Hebrews, Moabites and Amorites. The AMORITES were the first Semitic inhabitants of PALESTINE followed by the Canaanites.

Some scholars have placed the origins of the Semites in ARABIA:
1. Hugo Winckler: "The home of the Semites is Arabia"
2. Sprenger: "Agriculturists do not become nomads and all Semites are Arabs".

SEMITES HAVE EXISTED SINCE THE FOURTH MILLENNIUM IN PALESTINE . In Babylonian inscriptions "AMURRU" is the name applied to the whole of Syria and Palestine in the time of Khammurabi.
